We're Headed Up My Mom's Ass!

Today was newspaper day at Bloomfieldia. I bought the National Post (extended hockey coverage on Mondays and no Eckler or Manji) and the Globe and Mail, and Faith bought the Herald. I'm usually pretty excited about the National Post on Mondays because there usually thin Sports section has extended coverage and I like that. The writing is a lot better than The Sporting News who recently described the Ottawa Senators, who were on a winning streak, as Hottawa. I think that description is awful. The other day I was reading an article on Magnus Arvedson, a Swedish born player for the Canucks who is currently injured, and when I got to the phrase "Arvedson has been discovering how Swede it isn't" I immediately stopped reading. Just because it's sports journalism doesn't mean it has to resort to cutesy hackneyed cliches. I feel embarassed enough that right after I check my email I religiously check out The Sporting News and TSN websites without being subject to Hottawa. My elementary school newspaper came up with better headlines, "French Club to Sell Popcorn at Recess."
