People loving filling out online surveys and I suppose to some extent people like to read them, though the only time I'm interested is when I think the survey taker may mention me. I think that's why online surveys exist, self interest.

I was reading a RZA interview one day and then I read an Al Sharpton interview followed by one with Todd Solondoz and then one with Mike Komarisek and then another with Born Against, you get the picture. I'm interested in all those people for various reasons, but after I finished reading them, I wasn't just thinking about their answers, but my answers. I thought a lot about how I'd answer the questions they were asked, what I'd say. I'm sure I'm not the only one who does it.

People like to feel important. It's why this fucking page exists to some degree, I'm sure. I may admit in some joking manner, but I'm sure there's some degree of truth to it. It's why livejournal exists, it's why pages like hotornot.com and ratemycameltoe.com (ok maybe not that one...but still) are kicking around. On the internet anyone can feel important. "Who cares if Paris Hilton has a sex tape, I've got four and they're ripped much better!" "More people read my blog than Wil Wheaton's" "I'm one friendster away from Amanda Walsh" (I can dream).

So yeah surveys and the answers noone cares about you other than the ones that pertain to them. People want to feel like they can be as self absorbed as Todd Solondoz or as brooding and introspective as the RZA (aka Prince Rakeem...go download Ooh We Love You Rakeem now).

We all just want someone to take our run-in with the law as serious as Slick Rick's deportation.
