I was going to post this on a local messageboard, but I figured that made absolutely not sense, so I'm placing it here
By the way that Kobe Bryant takes a free throw, I can tell that there's no way he could possibly rape someone. The best perimeter player in the NBA? Of course! A rapist? C'mon! I know Kobe, I watch him on sportsnet every week, he's a stand up guy!
But seriously is it just me or is this rape case seemingly denigrating the seriousness and severity of rape and accusations of rape? When Kobe Bryant case is brought up it's usually in regards to how it will affect the Lakers' chances next year, it seems the same thing has transpired with the Dany Heatley case. Is it a result of sports journalists merely caring about sports? Or do we really not give a shit?
I don't know if you can argue that the public is desensitized towards crimes such as these, but you'd think that the implications of two of sports brightest young stars being found guilty of two of the most severe crimes you can perpatrate against an individual would be far greater than what affect it has on their teams playoff chances.
