A great column from 04/04/05 by Ted Rall on why there's some people who wish Pat Roberston's call for the assassination of Hugo Chavez hadn't gone unanswered.

"I may be an SOB, but I'm your SOB!"

From Wikipedia.org :

Jim "The Hammer" Shapiro once claimed he was "More creative than Japan" The Japanese government sued him and he was forced to remove this slogan from his website and pay $728,000 in restitution to the Japanese government.

Here's an archive of Jim 'The Hammer' Shapiro commercials

The Mighty Whale

"Whalermania is what everyone's talking about, and I'm just glad to be a part of it." Joel Quenneville

File under :"There's no fucking way this will happen"...

Late last year, Gottesdiener told Connecticut officials that he had a plan to bring an NHL team to the city if they would help him build a new 16,000-seat arena in Hartford, where his company, Northland Investment Corp., of Newton, Mass., owns about $500 million US worth of real estate.

Trust me I'd love to see more uniform innovations like cooperalls come back, but there's no way that the Whalers (or any Hartford based franchise) will be lacing them up before a team in Las Vegas, San Antonio, or Winnipeg.
