Y'know how sometimes at Christmas relatives give other irresponsible (read : fuck up) relatives useful things as presents like grocery store gift certificates? The logic being that they'll know the money is being spent on something that is intrinsically valuable like food instead of something like guns and ammo (do I mean the magazine or do I mean the actual items?).
The above is what transpired this past christmas with my relatives. I received 50 dollars in Sobeys gift certificates. I thought this meant I had to spend 50 dollars at Sobeys, but Brett Wagg informed me last night that that ain't the truth. Apparently you can buy a penny candy and get the remainder back in cold hard cash. Instead of buying chicken from Sobeys you can buy chicken from KFC!
Irresponsible? Yes.
Stupid? No.

Last night at band practice while Mike Day was showing us a new song:
"Forget about the 'Pantera' part, that part doesn't matter right now..."
"Maybe if Dimebag cared a little more about the Pantera part, he'd still be here today."

I walked Erin back to Brad's apt off Windsor St on Saturday night. She was going back to Calgary on Sunday and she was deserving of a proper send-off. I had one firework left over from my trip to the Sydney Shopping Centre. 'The Wild One' seemed to fit 'the best for last' adage.
We cut through the parking lot of the Halifax Forum and I planted the firework in the first snowbank I could find. We lit the fuse and casually walked away. We got about a block and a half before a police car slowly rolled up alongside us with its lights off. The cop started asking questions: Had we heard noise? uhm yes, I think so. Where did it come from? Almon St maybe? What side of Windsor did it come from? Uh oh hmm I don't know.
I realized pretty quickly that he had us pegged as witnesses not perpatrators. I was still scared, I'm not very good at being asked questions, but I didn't act as damn nervous as I did when the car pulled up.
After the cop car pulled away, I started thinking about the tracks I left in the snow. I was thinking 'Shit they're going to find that firework and then follow those tracks all the way back to Willow St and then everyone will wake up and cast disapproving looks my way, oh yeah plus I'll be fined!'
All the way home I kept thinking about Pee Wee's Christmas Special and how Cowboy Curtis got fooled by Pee Wee's Mystery Tracks in the snow. If an adept tracker like Cowboy Curtis could be fooled by mystery tracks then so could the HRM police force. Ingenuity!
