Last night 16 of us headed down to the Metro Centre to see the Harlem Globetrotters on ice tackle the QMJHL's version of the Washington Generals.
The Screaming Eagles playing in uniforms with terrible logos whipped the Halifax Mooseheads who coincidentally enough were also dressed in uniforms with terrible logos. Both teams were founded by Harold McKay so maybe the terrible logos aren't coincidental.
The Eagles scored eight unanswered goals, the Mooseheads had a number of 5 on 3 powerplays that they didn't capitalize on. Their first shot on net came only after the Eagles had six shots and 7 minutes of play had elapsed. Turnovers were high and it led to a number of great chances for the Eagles. Sheppard's first goal, unassisted, came right after a penalty to Kevin Asselin had elapsed. Asselin joined the fray quickly, played the man, and forced a turnover just inside the Halifax end which led to Sheppard's fourth goal of the season.
As for the Mooseheads, I have seen more inspired skating when I saw Ewoks on Ice in 1986.
