I bought both the Globe and Mail and the Daily News today and they both just put me in a terrible mood. There's lots of reasons why Paul and Helen should have been on the cover of a National newspaper, being victims doesn't seem like it should be one of them.

I'm not sure if the rain is putting me in a worse mood, but it's definitely adding to my reasons for staying in all afternoon.

Die Brucke is playing a Food Not Bombs benefit show on the 13th of January with several other local bands including Paul Hammond's new band, Prisoners, as well as C.I. and Missed Life. A few days ago, I was thinking about why Food Not Bombs seemed so important to me. A lot of the reasons seemed to stem from things like consensus based decision making, rebuilding communities we can all be proud of, but none of it seemed to ring true. The reasons why Food Not Bombs was important, particularly in Halifax, was because of people like Paul and Helen, who didn't just talk about Food Not Bombs they lived it. They never seemed to be held in check by pettiness or cynicism.

Through music and film, they both created worlds within this one that you wanted to be a part of.

I knew the two of them only for a brief time, I can only imagine what sort of time those who are closer to them are going through. I'm sure they'd appreciate any help or support, you'd want to give them.
