Walking through the mall because I needed money and we knew the bank machine would be readily accessible even after 11 pm. Drank beer in the hallways coming down from the parkade and into the mall. Saw 6 thuggy looking teenagers (4 guys, 2 girls) lurking around. They were too caught up in necking and posturing to notice us until we headed to the bank machine. They slowed down, made like they were heading towards the Barrington St. pedway, but instead hid behind the escalators. The moment my money was dispensed they showed themselves. Slowly moved towards us as we walked away. Tried to walk fast, but not too conspicuous, didn't work. They moved quickly towards, Gerry shouted run (which we did) and they on cue, turned feet to wheels and followed. Ran down the straightaway by Smithbooks not looking back, trying to decide whether it was better to take the stairs or the wheelchair ramp. Ran straight up the gradual incline, stopped when we reach the safety of the sidewalk.
Never felt more energized and exhilarated, only hit a brick wall when I entered the bar 20 minutes later.
