A carnival owner from Cape Breton who operated an illegal, mobile gaming house for his employees has been fined $17,000.
Patrick Hinchey, 39 of New Waterford, operates Hinchey's Rides and Amusements. He was convicted on six charges for offences dating between 2000 and 2002.
His rolling gaming house had membership cards, bar service and even T-shirts.
In addition to the gambling conviction, the bar service led to convictions for unlawfully keeping liquor for sale and unlawfully selling liquor.
