Charlottetown's beautiful, but I'm ugly.
It's the first time I've taken this s(l)ide show of mine out of town and only my third show ever and to tell the truth, I didn’t do so hot. I'm sitting in the lobby of the Arts Guild watching people slide down the street and throw snowballs one day after the temperatures in Halifax reached plus 15. It's making me feel a little less embarrassed because I'm sure they've all forgotten how awfully awkward I was on stage. Everyone's preoccupied with the snow and the great set that A/V just played.
I was determined to get drunk after my set, but the liquor store closed at 6pm. I consoled myself with lime rickey in a glass bottle and comic books instead, I felt like I was ten...ok twenty-seven.
Post-Script
Baba's was an entirely different story. We were all determined to do short sets as we were running later than expected. Things went much better because I didn't have to explain David Blaine or Jem and the Holograms. I'm not cut out for performing in front of people under the age of twenty who don't digest massive amounts of 80's nostalgia. I think drinking beer helped too.
The Danks played another solid set, Windom Earle were great, I cut A/V's set short, and Books on Tape keeps blowing my mind. I was worried that I would get tired of these shows because the bills are so similar each night, but I am looking forward to the other shows. I'll be kind of bummed when Todd (Books on Tape) heads to Ontario and we stop our little convoy.
We stayed at Stephan's mom's place last night and I woke up to a Robo Sapien thrusting and farting by my head. I yelped "Johnny Five no disassemble" at it and it replied "Rosebud".
Robots will replace us all some day. Fuck you Orson Welles!
I spent today napping and catching up on emails.
Tomorrow is Fredericton, tonight is Gus's.
